Kano High Court No. 7, sitting in the Municipal area of the state, has ordered the remand of Aminu Ismail for allegedly stabbing his father, Malam Dahiru Ahmad, to death during a heated argument over his plan to take a second wife.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred in Unguwar Bai Village, located in Ajingi Local Government Area of Kano State, after a disagreement between the accused and his father turned violent.

According to the prosecution counsel, Barrister Abba Lamido Sorondinki, Ismail had informed his father of his intention to marry another wife, but the elder Ahmad advised against it, citing the prevailing economic hardship.

The warning, however, sparked an argument between the two, during which the accused allegedly attacked his father with a knife, stabbing him several times in the chest.

The victim reportedly died from his injuries before help could arrive.

Ismail was subsequently arrested and charged with homicide, an offence contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.

Appearing before the court, the presiding judge ordered that the suspect be remanded in a correctional facility pending further hearing on the case.

The matter has been adjourned for continuation of proceedings as the court awaits additional evidence from the prosecution.

The shocking incident has stirred outrage in the local community, with residents describing it as a tragic example of how family disagreements can spiral out of control.
