Memphis-born rapper NLE The Great, formerly known as NLE Choppa, has returned with a powerful new single titled “KO.” The track arrives as a surprise release and instantly set the internet ablaze with its hard-hitting lyrics and cultural commentary.
Built on a fierce sample of 2Pac’s legendary diss record “Hit ’Em Up,” “KO” finds NLE stepping into the role of a modern-day hip-hop reformer.
With fiery energy and spiritual conviction, he declares himself the “reaper” sent to restore balance to a genre he feels has lost its way. “Yahweh sent me to decease ’em, so I’m the reaper to greet ’em,” he raps with purpose.
Calling Out the Culture
NLE doesn’t hold back on the record. He takes aim at what he describes as the toxic direction of today’s rap scene, even addressing one of its biggest names, NBA YoungBoy, in direct fashion:
“YoungBoy what this the big boy league / Put one in the gut under the Jesus piece / Last thing that I heard was Jesus please, had me looking at the devil like this is your king.”
Through these lines, NLE positions himself as a voice for change, criticizing negativity and glorification of violence in rap music. “You poison the youth / Nun positive you do,” he spits, highlighting his personal shift toward purpose and positivity.

Accompanying the single is a cinematic music video that pays tribute to some of NLE’s greatest inspirations, including Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Prince, and Michael Jackson. Each persona represents a stage in his personal and creative evolution.
In a striking sequence, NLE dons Michael Jackson’s actual shoes and works alongside MJ’s real choreographer, Travis Payne. His dance movements double as fight stances, symbolizing his battle for legacy and authenticity in hip-hop culture.
